Pastor David Wright
David has
served as Pastor of the Panther Valley Ecumenical Church since August
2009.
In July 2011, PVEC celebrated David’s wedding to Kelsey Jenks Wright, formerly
of Denver, Colorado. They live in nearby Independence, NJ with their cat Bean.
They have no children. Kelsey is staff at the Domestic Abuse and Sexual Assault
Crisis Center of Warren County. They love living in Hackettstown and are happy
to call PVEC home.
David grew up in Langhorne, PA where his father, the Rev. Charles E. Wright
served as Pastor of the Langhorne Presbyterian Church. Following a 4-year
hiatus when they served as mission partners through the Presbyterian Church
(USA) in Zambia, his father now serves as Pastor of the Gaithersburg
Presbyterian Church of Gaithersburg, MD. His mother Susan is a clinical
therapist with her own private practice.
David has one sister, Bethany Ides of Brooklyn, NY, who with her husband Joseph
Bradshaw who teach performance art and art history at the Brooklyn Academy of
Music.
David is a 2000 graduate of George School, a 2004 graduate of Amherst College
with a B.A. in Classics and Religious Studies, and a 2009 M. Div. Graduate of
Princeton Theological Seminary. His career background is in Christian camping
and social services, particularly working with adolescents with behavioral
health needs.
He enjoys playing softball, cheering on the Philadelphia Phillies, hiking,
running, spending time with kids of all ages, and popular music. His favorite
recording artists are Bruce Springsteen, Neil Young, U2, Pearl Jam, and Bob
Dylan. His favorite places to visit include Colorado, the Jersey Shore, and
Kirkwood Camp.
David’s favorite Christian author is Anne Lamott. Other favorite authors
include James Joyce, Chris Claremont and Richard Brautigan.
His passions in ministry include youth ministry, partnering with other local
churches in community outreach and hospitality, preaching, marriage and family
counseling, visitation, and accessibility to persons with disabilities.
David personally welcomes members of the community and congregation to meet with
him one-on-one whenever they have needs they would like to address together.
